Shio - Wichita Falls: Reviews & Ratings
We had a wonderful experience here! If you want high quality sushi, I would definitely recommend Shio. The atmosphere here is very calm and comforting, the service was wonderful. The food was extraordinary, made with care and consideration. The octopus was tender, the sashimi were thick cuts, real wasabi, and amazing fish. Even the Korean fried chicken was incredible. The prices were less expensive considering the quality of everything we ate! Definitely coming here again!
Excellent food…I’m so glad to see us have a great sushi place here in Wichita Falls! Great experience going there. The chefs are creative and personable as well, so it is fun!
First time at Shio restaurant! Excellent food, excellent service and a great environment. The food was delicious from the extremely tasty chicken wings to the visually stunning and equally delicious sushi. The restaurant is warm and inviting and the staff was very attentive. I was very pleased that it was friendly to your pocketbook also. A great experience at a great price!
The sushi and food quality is excellent. Sushi here are super fresh. Even the fried wings were bomb. I found their food plating to be pretty, appetizing, and most importantly, delicious. Prices are more than fair for a sushi experience. Can’t wait to see what else they will come up with. Will come again!
How is this in Wichita Falls?? A quality, elevated Korean/Japanese restaurant finally made its way here. Overall Score: 4.5/5 The new Korean-Japanese restaurant brings new flavor both in atmosphere and food to Wichita Falls. Food: - Pros: 1. Tonkatsu- The breading around the pork was so delicate, the crisp is like a cloud! I would prefer a fattier cutlet, but the lean meat definitely was hefty and delicious. 2. Rolls- We got the Tempura Toll and the Salmon Sake. Both were tasty, particularly the salmon sake which had tuna & is definitely the most worth it in terms of meat to cost ratio. 3. Wasabi- The only reason the wasabi is getting a separate shout-out is due it's amazing organic flavor and quality! Wasabi tasted so clean and not overly pungent. 4. Korean fried chicken: The spicy (양념) sauce was deliciously authentic. It balanced the Korean gochujang and sweetness very well! It was freshly made and well presented. Highly recommended! 5. Garlic Edamame: Perfection! Salty, savory, and light- it's the perfect appetizer! -Cons: 1. Korean Fried Chicken (Soy Garlic): The flavor was really good, but it was just too salty. The rice from the tonkatsu saved it! Please moderate the salt level... 2. Water: The cold tap water was unappetizing. Instead of cleaning the palate it tainted it. Very unfortunate especially since we don't drink and water was our only option. Atmosphere: They really maximized the small space! The minimalistic furniture added to the cozy lamps and wooden wallpaper really elevated the experience. The interior was unlike anything in Wichita Falls, which made it both unique and welcoming. Service: Good overall! We could tell everyone was being intentional. Tip: Go during Happy Hour (4:30-5:30pm)! We got so much food for a reasonable price and we still got our chicken for happy hour price even though we ordered more after 5:30pm. Overall, it was a great experience and we are glad that a restaurant of this quality made its way to Wichita Falls!
You can't go wrong with a single item from this menu. Every single bit was amazing and being able to watch the chef and the kitchen whip it up constantly, while having literally every seat taken in the restaurant, is an amazing experience. And the food didn't miss a beat. Served as soon as it was prepared for maximum efficiency and flavor as it should be. It's one of the highest marks for a legitimate sushi spot. Chef knew what he was doing and didn't over handle a single piece of food he prepared. The Otoro Nigiri was, without a doubt, the single best bite of sushi I have ever had. The true Rainbow roll was perfectly crafted and the shrimp and guac was something I wouldn't typically order but me and a buddy shared and it was one of the best rolls I've ever tasted, the creamy ponzu is out of this world. Our waitress, Elliot, was spot on the entire time. 10/10 if you want the best sushi in Wichita Falls hands down. Can't wait to go back with my wife!
If you aren't a fan of sushi but have always wanted to like it, or you're new to sushi but scared, this is absolutely the place you need to be going for Sushi in Wichita Falls (according to my husband this is the place if not near the ocean at all). I am NOT a sushi enthusiast, it has always made my skin prickle & my mouth not water. I enjoy thoroughly cooked fish, not raw, I can handle a good fried sushi, like 1 bite (1 bite = 1 roll of the entire roll). However, I was watching sushi and Asian food tiktoks as one does while falling asleep, I dreamt about it, my mouth was watering. I promptly woke up just in time for dinner (I work nights) demanding my husband take me to Shio. Shio specifically because my cousin & her BF have been raving about the food, begging us to come in (mind you my cousin is very specific about what she eats due to many reasons, & she loves the food, & that is huge in our family if she will eat it. Her BF loves sushi as does my husband). Anyway, I was determined to eat some sushi, but also ordered other items just incase I got nauseous... because raw fish, right? I definitely came in wanting the hubs to pick a fried sushi (four items on the sushi menu are cooked/fried)... to my surprise, he chose one of the raw, most fresh, most green sushi's on the list (they actually had a similar version that is fried). I said "oooookaaaay," and let him do as he wanted because I did want to try something new and he does enjoy sushi. We ordered the Hamachi Garden (yellowtail), I would honestly eat this a couple times a week if I could. It was NOT slimy, not a freaky weird texture in my mouth, it was genuinely refreshing, fresh tasting and feeling (?), I was not grossed out by any of the textures, the roll blended together very nicely during chewing (I'm not sure how else to describe this, but it was not gross). I ATE 3-4 ROLLS YALL, THREE TO FOUR not 1. Anyway, I don't know if I want to try sushi anywhere else, but I WOULD try other raw sushi at Shio. Besides the absolutely delightful sushi experience, we also ordered Garlic Edamame & Dumplings (4) from the appetizer list & the Beef Bulgogi Rice Bowl which were all amazing! I dont know how the hubs & I did it, but there was nothing left. We also highly enjoyed the Hana Flavored Sake (Fuji apple), the $8 one is perfect for 2 people to share. Absolutely amazing place for a date night or group, but reservations are encouraged greatly because it IS a very small intimate area. We had a great time as well!
I can’t say enough good things about this place. Alex and his crew are superb. The food is insanely delicious and the way he plays with the texture and flavors blows my mind. The hamachi chili is a must as are the oyesters ( let Alex do whatever he wants with them and trust me) I get it everytime I’m there.
